Important Faces in the Search Engine Optimization SEO World

Aaron Wall of SEO BookAaron Wall - SEO Book

I bought Aaron's book, so I can certainly recommend it to you.  Aaron is an educator, SEO consultant, attends search engine conferences and does I don't know what all.  His career on the web began after his discharge from the Navy when he was trying to promote a web site about nuclear power in submarines.  Since then, he's learned a lot and taught a lot.  You can purchase his ebook about search engine optimization, SEO Book, and receive continual updates provided you keep up with Adobe updates (which don't cost anything).  If you're a corporation and you have lots of money to spend on the very best, you can hire him as your SEO consultant.

Matt Cutts of Google, Warrior against WebSpam and LinkSpamMatt Cutts - Google, Matt Cutts' Blog

If you haven't heard of Matt Cutts then you are in the very beginning of you Search Engine education.  He is one of the early employees at Google, is currently engaged to combat WebSpam (part of which is LinkSpam or excessive linking) and speaks at most all of the major Search Engine conferences all over the country (and sometimes beyond the borders).  What started as informal get-togethers between panels has now become an official "Ask Matt" panel.  Since some conference attendees hang on his every word, SEO denizens have referred to those people as "Cuttlets."  Some use this to make a humorous point, such as Audrey from Advanced Access who wore a t-shirt to SES 2006 in San Jose that said, "Matt Cutts Makes Me Google."  Jessica's t-shirt said, "Matt Cutts is a God." See the photo.

Greg Boser the Web GuerillaGreg Boser - Web Guerilla

Greg has been involved with the Internet since 1995 and built his first web site using FrontPage.  Then he realized that just because you have a web site doesn't mean anyone will know about it (or visit), so he set out to learn how to get visitors -- and discovered Search Engines.  After that, he began a side business building web sites but began to focus more and more on Search Engine Optimization.  At first he subcontracted out to agencies that wanted to provide SEO to corporations, then stepped from behind the curtain to work with large companies on his own.  Being a man of little patience, he tired of working for folks that did not understand the value of SEO, so he refocused on corporations small enough to "get" it, but large enough to hire him.  His work includes some joint ventures and affiliate marketing programs.

Danny Sullivan of Search Engine LandDanny Sullivan - Search Engine Land, Daggle

Danny's new project is SearchEngineLand.com and a series of SMX Search Marketing Expos that focus on both organic search and pay-per-click (PPC), among other strategies.  His history in Search goes back to 1995 when he began to wonder how they indexed web pages and he is considered one of the earliest gurus in the Search business.  He created Search Engine Watch in 1997 and ran a series of conferences referred to as SES (Search Engine Strategies).  He sold Search Engine Watch for gobs of money and stayed on until November 1996, when he started the new company.  He has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, Forbes, The New Yorker, Newsweek, and other publications.  Most of his time now is spent speaking and writing, with little consulting.
